Reach OutFrequently asked questions
How do I rate an album?
Open any album from search, Discover or the charts and tap Rate. You give one score out of ten. A review is optional — you can post a score on its own.
Can I change a rating after posting it?
Yes. Open the album and tap your own rating to edit it. The score, the review, any recording attached to it, and whether you own it on vinyl or CD can all be changed at any time.
How do I write, record or film a review?
All three attach to a rating. You can write up to 500 characters, record a voice note of up to 20 seconds, or film up to 60 seconds. They are all optional and you can use more than one on the same rating.
How do I log a concert?
Tap the plus at the top right of Home and choose Add Concert. Pick the artist, set the date and add a note if you want. Concerts get a score out of ten like albums, and they live under Ratings on your profile behind the Music and Concerts switch.
How do I add my vinyl and CDs?
Mark an album as owned on vinyl or on CD from its page. Your Collection is built from those marks, so it stays in step with what you rate, and the list filters by All, Vinyl or CD.
What is the difference between Trending and Popular?
Trending Releases shows albums gaining traction right now and can be narrowed to a single region or left worldwide. Popular Ratings ranks the albums the most people on SoundCheckd have rated. Both sit in Discover.
How do follow requests work?
If an account is private, tapping Follow sends a request instead of following straight away. It appears at the top of their Activity tab, where they can accept or reject it.
How do I make my account private?
Open Settings and turn on Private Account. From then on only followers you have approved can see your ratings and your profile. You can switch back to public whenever you like.
What does SoundCheckd Plus give me?
Plus removes advertising, unlocks a coloured username and adds a few extras. It is a yearly subscription billed through your Apple Account, and you turn off renewal in your Apple Account settings rather than in the app.
Can I change the language or use dark mode?
Both are in Settings under Accessibility. SoundCheckd is available in seven languages, and you can force light or dark appearance or let it follow your device.
How do I delete my account?
Open Settings and choose Delete Account at the bottom. You are asked to confirm twice, and it then permanently removes your account and everything in it — your ratings, concerts, collection, playlists and followers. This cannot be undone. If you have a Plus subscription, cancel it separately in your Apple Account settings, because deleting the account does not stop the billing.
